Canadian Jewish News Article- May 2016 : "Amy Sky to release her  first jewish album"

                                                          TWILIGHT ROSE

The new world music project  by award winning recording  artist Amy Sky.

TWILIGHT ROSE is a collection of original, inspirational songs in Hebrew and English. The world music record is a fusion of East- meets-West influences, infused with  rock and  gospel. Sitar, dilruba, pennywhistle, and harmonium, blend with a soft rock rhythm section  and shimmering stacks of vocals to create an evocative soundscape.
The title is inspired by the song “Erev Shel Shoshanim” which literally means “Evening of Roses”.

Amy sings on the cd, plays the piano and harmonium and  composed or co-wrote 8 of the 11 songs . She  drew her inspiration for the Hebrew text largely from the  prayers of  Kabbalat Shabat - the Friday night Sabbath service.

The album was recorded in Toronto and Los Angeles. The Toronto sessions were helmed  by Juno award winning engineer John Bailey. The stellar cast of musicians includes Justin Abedin (Jack Soul),   Jason Fowler (John McDermott)  and  Michael Thompson ( Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman) on guitar,  Lyle Molzan and Maury Lafoy (Jann Arden), on drums and bass and George Koller (Loreena McKennitt) on sitar, dilruba and Japanese Bass. Amy’s guest artists include PBS Tenor  phenom Mark Masri, Egyptian vocalist Maryem Tollar, woodwind virtuoso Ron Korb, and Sky’s own husband and children - Marc, (vocals) Zoe (vocals) and Ezra (piano, B3 Organ and  percussion).

Amy will develop unique live performance experiences with this project. Her vision is to create a  public venue for people looking for positive connection, with sacred and secular spiritual music  and a contemporary aesthetic.

The songs are intended to be “congregational” in nature - suited for an  interactive worship and/or entertainment experience.
